The Trouble with #9 by Piper Rayne

ABOUT THE BOOK

Trouble.

One word that comes to mind when someone talks about me. I like to think of it as protection, watching out for the ones I love. But now I’m spending more time in the penalty box than on the ice and the team owner isn’t happy.

Finding myself across the room from the hot therapist I kissed on New Year’s Eve only makes me push my problems down further. I want couch time with her but not the kind she’s used to.

I decide to lie to her just to finish off my therapy so I can do what I really want—date her—even if she says she doesn’t date hockey players. Just when my therapy sessions are up and I’ve made some headway with Paisley, it’s my parents who throw another wrench in my plans.

If I abide by my parent’s wishes to marry the one they’ve chosen, I’ll lose Paisley forever. But if I go against my parents, I’m failing my deceased best friend all over again.

This is book 2 in a stand alone series about NHL hockey players on a team in Florida. Its a bit of a forbidden romance as player #9 is Maksim, a russian defender hockey player who has the hots for the team therapist, Paisley.

Maksim has many issues in this book. In the first part of the book all we know is that he wants Paisley really badly and has some anger issues as he defends his teammates at hockey games.

Honestly in the first half he is this awesome guy and Paisley tries very hard to resist him. He does not want a one night stand he wants a relationship with Paisley. Honestly he was this really awesome guy that I just sighed over. He was hot, romantic and a total sweetheart and I understood why Paisley had a tough time resisting him.

But once he brings her into his life and gets this chance for something with her. Well he has secrets. Things that didn't need to be secret he never tells her and she gets blind sided when it comes out. And I did not love that he is so closed off at this part of the book. As I said he has issues.

What I will say about Paisley and why I loved this book and adored her character is that makes him work for her heart and her forgiveness. I loved that we see his issues are big but for himself and Paisely he wants to let her in, even if that takes some work.
