Blurb
High school literature teacher Grace Berry is an expert on
Shakespearean love, but she knows almost nothing about real-life romance. She
has no time to learn either, as she's busy battling overbearing parents, a
bullying principal, and a stubborn father.
Then she suddenly finds out that award-winning author Lincoln Atwood is coming to take over her classes. No way will she surrender her authority to a hotshot male writer who doesn't know the first thing about poetry. Even if he is sinfully sexy.
After making a deal with his estranged brother, Lincoln is forced to stay in Bliss Cove for over a month. He'd much rather be racing sled dogs or mountain biking, so why not take a teaching gig to kill the time?
But Lincoln's belief that teaching will be "easy" is quickly proven wrong after he confronts the intriguing Grace with her embroidered sweaters and spine of steel. And when he learns about the sizable gap in Grace's education, the plot thickens considerably.

Too bad this beautiful teacher is off-limits...or is she?

“I told you I’m not good at relationships," he
retorted. "Whereas you—”
“I what?”
“You’re goddamned made for…for being with someone. For…”
For being with me. The words almost flew out of his
mouth before he could even process them. What the hell was he thinking?
Grace blew out her breath in an exasperated sigh. “I’m busy,
all right? I don’t have time for a relationship.”
“Bullshit.”
“Lincoln! My classes and drama club take up a lot of time,
I’m prepping for summer school, and I have to help my father.”
“Your father doesn’t need your help.”
Her eyes hardened. “You don’t know him. Or me, for that
matter. You certainly have no business questioning my love life.”
“Given the way you kissed me the other night, yes I do,” he
snapped.
She pressed her lips together, her flush deepening. “You
made it quite clear you’re not interested.”
“That’s not what I was doing!” He turned abruptly, spreading
his arms out. “The problem is that I’m too fucking interested. You’re damned
right I’m fixated on you, and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve wanted you from the
second I saw you sitting at the diner, I can’t stop staring at you in class,
and all I want to do is kiss you again. Hell, half the time I can’t even think
about anything except how much I want to touch you. If I had any intention of
staying here, I—”
“Lincoln, will you have sex with me?”

This is a story about Grace, who teaches high school students Literture and is an amazing teacher but who has a failing athletic student and so the principal has it out for her as well.
Lincoln is the male lead in this story and he is a famous author who is at loose ends after he gets injured and he decides to go visit his estranged brother, Sam who lives in a small, quirky town. Think Gilmore Girls Stars Hollow.
The two meet over pie and then Grace is forced to have Lincoln join her as an inspiring author in her class and the two get to know each other and form a relationship. But Lincoln is only in town for a few weeks, and Grace is very entrenched in her town.
This was a really well written story and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters. At times Lincoln frustrated me as you can clearly see he wants love, family and connections but he has a hard time getting out of his own way. Grace meanwhile does not do change well. I loved how honest she is about that and when it comes down to it she is willing to negotiate.
