Clara and Mav have known each other two years. They have even been each others plus ones for a series of wedding dates in the last few months as their friends and family got hitched. But nothing has ever happened and I guess you can say Clara has given up on dreaming about a baby and a husband.
She has decided that she is almost 40 and its time that she made her baby dreams a reality. But she also doesn't want to do it with some strangers baby juice and so when Mav volunteers and tells her he is leaving town for Texas in the next few months. Well it gives her something to think about...
Mav meanwhile has crushed on Clara but didn't want to ruin a beautiful friendship when he thinks he won't treat someone he loves well because of who his father was. Its what held him back but when Clara tells him of her plan well then he starts to see what he can lose by letting his past drive his future.
This was a very sweet, hot and romantic story about best friends falling for each other but also two people who are mature and know what they need and want. Mav has to let his past go and Clara has to believe in how awesome she is. I also love that we get to see all the couples the author has written about and see them get involved in Mav and Clara's story.
