Officially Over It by Lani Lynn Vale

About the Book

Going from a professional baseball player to a SWAT officer should’ve been seamless. Should have been.

 But it wasn’t.

All it took was one single calendar shoot for word to spread that Nathan Cox was not only no longer playing professional baseball, but he was also the man behind saving the life of Reggie Morton, the City of Kilgore’s princess.

***

Reggie didn’t know that by agreeing to provide the expertise and the know-how for the Police Officer’s Ball that she would be required to actually attend the function.

What she also didn’t expect was needing to be saved—again—by the same man that had saved her life a year ago when she hosted her debut event.

This time in a not-nearly-as-spectacular way. The moment she falls into his arms like a modern-day Cinderella and takes him in in all his three-piece suited glory, she realizes that she’s been fighting the impossible.

Nathan Cox owns her. Body and soul.

Lani Lynn Vale is a newer author for me. So I have not read all her books. At times in this story I had to go back and read reviews on previous books to see what I had missed. So as I review this story you might want to take that into account as I might have missed something about Regan or Nate in their history.

The book starts with a prologue. It does not give a date or how many years before but it does say both Nate and Reggie had just finished college so I estimated that was around when they were 21/22. Then the prologue picks up two years later and then the actual story starts one year later. For me all this was very confusing. I estimated them at age 25 when this story starts.

Now about the history of the characters which I tried to figure out from what was discussed in the story. Note I did not read any of these books.

Nathans parents when he was young were murdered  with his unborn sister. Wolf found him and adopted him and brought him up and eventually married and his wife adopted Nate too. Wolf was best friends with Reggie's single mom. Who also met a man and married him, his name was Travis and when he married her mom, he adopted her as well.

Growing up their families were very close and they had a very competitive relationship. In high school Nate met this girl Eerie who was bad news and he knew that but he had an off again and one again relationship with her. At 17 she ended up with Cancer and asked him to fertilize her eggs so she could have kids one day.

Regan all grown up is a nurse and party planner and lets say she gets into trouble and Nate's usually there to save her. Nate was a baseball player and quit to become a member of the SWAT team.

I loved that we get to see the men and women of Kilgore in this story and hang out with them. Mal plays a pretty significant part in this story, as does Sierra and her book is next and I cannot wait.

In this story while Nate saves Reggie a few times and when a drug dealer eyes her, he saves her again. She is also there for him as well and to some degree she saves him too. I loved that about their relationship that no matter what happens they have each others back.

I cannot tell you more about the plot of this story but I absolutely loved this romance. It starts in childhood and carries them to their future and I loved watching them fall for each other as they are there for each other.
