This is book 2 in the series and I read the first book and loved it. This book features friends of the couple from the first book. This book also stands alone, though might have a few questions if you did not read the first book.
This book stars Jackson, who runs a wilderness program at the State Park where he is a Ranger. In the summer he hosts classes for kids on hiking and climbing something his father ran for locals. He is having issues finding someone to run the classes in the summer until author, Olivia is in town visiting her friend and finds out she is an expert hiker and climber.
Olivia and Jackson met prior to this book and shared one hot night under she ghosted him. What he does not know is that her heart is broken over losing her loved ones some 4 years before. She is back in town because she plans to move there to be near her best friend, Kate.
As their friends play matchmaking games with them they decide to pretend date and pick up where they left off several months before. Jackson had his heart broken and so he really only does casual relationships and Liv only wants casual because her heart is broken.
All this happens while they work together teaching climbing to local kids. Honestly I felt the whole climbing angle was interesting at first but as things advanced in the story that the author spent way to much time on the climbing aspect of the story. Maybe too much on the mechanics behind climbing.
Aside from that I really enjoyed this story. Liv and Jackson learn how to face their pasts and move on from it. There also are lots of hot times for these two so beware if you don't like a lot of hot scenes. If you do well ENJOY!
