This is book 2 in a series and it can stand alone. I have not read the first book in the series about Emmy and Sterling. One reason is it is a bullying book and maybe even has a rape. I try to avoid those kind of triggering stories. But I do love this authors writing style and when I heard she had a new book coming out and it was a brothers best friend romance well I couldn't wait to check it out.
Emmy and Sterling seem to play a big part in this story and this book and the first one seem to run concurrent. Being as I did not read the first book, I did have some questions as I read this book. So while it can stand alone, you might need to read the first book to answer some of those questions.
This book stars Stella, who is the younger sister in this book. The man who loves her is Samson, who is not just her brother, Orion's best friend but he is like a son to her parents.
They both are in love with each other but around her 18th birthday he ghosted her. And so he devestated her. Now 9 months later realises his mistake and lets say he has a lot of making up to do.
But Stella is off to college and she gets a roomie named Emmy. And thats the stories connection to the first book. At times I felt Stella's pain as Samson tries to win her heart but still wants to hide her from her family and from Orion.
This was a sweet, hot and very romantic story. It features two people who are soulmates and I loved that aspect of the story. I also loved how hard Samson is willing to fight to win Stella's heart again. This was an awesome second chance at love romance.
