This is book 4 in the series but it easily can stand alone. It actually runs concurrently with Manning's book, Only One Night, at least the beginning so while it can stand alone, I would read that book before this one so you understand what happened as Manning is a big part of this story as well. If you read that book you know that Nico has a thing with Becca and everyone knows this but also that he got married to someone no one in Dallas has even met before , some rich socialite.
After reading Just One Night in my head I came up with all kinds of reasons and I honestly didn't feel that the reason he and his so called wife gave for the reasons they get hitched made any sense at all. I will say that his getting married, caused me to love this book. I loved how the aftermath was dealt with by Becca and how she tortured Nico and I loved watching him suffer.
This story starts at the beginning. As I mentioned it runs concurrently with Manning's story and we get to see the beginning of the attraction between Becca and Nico and honestly it was more sex than story. These two have lots of hot times and secret times with each other. They get along extremely well and are sorta made for each other. Both are workaholics and love sports and share friends and travel a lot.
When Nico betrays Becca and there is no cheating in this story, I loved how awesome Becca deals with it as her heart breaks. She does not take Nico back easily and she makes him suffer. I actually hate angyst in stories but in this one it made the story absolutely awesome.
