Truth Be Told by Marie James

 Release Date: February 23

Lies ruin lives.

Ignacio Torres, the translator for Blackbridge Security, has told his fair share and then some.

He lied more than once to Tinley Holland when they were teens.

Told her he didn’t love her.

Told her he could live without her.

Told her what they shared didn’t mean a thing.

He’s lived with those lies, lived with the loss of her for over a decade.

What he didn’t expect was going home to help with a family matter only to discover Tinley has told the biggest lie of all.

Meet Marie James

Let's see...where to begin...

I'm inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.

I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)

We have two boys we're doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.

I have a master's degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there's usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.

If I'm not writing; I'm reading.

My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I'm reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it's gotten me exactly where I need to be!)

I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.

This is book 4 in the series and I have not read any of the books in the series before. This story is very dark and not fun but filled with all the feels you could possibly want. It takes place in Texas in the poor area where gangs and drug deals happen all the time.

Some of the topics featured in this story is Cancer, teen pregnancy and a second chance at love but also hate turning to love and a secret baby.

The story starts 13 years before when Ignacio and Tinley are in love but she has an opportunity to escape their small Texas town and so Ig breaks her heart in a terrible way. The story then picks up 13 years later and he is back in town because he got a call that his grandfather had a stroke and will not pull thru.

As he drives around town and visits his old high school he sees Tinley and her son and realizes she must have been pregnant because his son looks just like him. He is a very angry and bitter man and he visits Tin forcing a DNA test and insisting he wants to get to know his son.

Tin has had a very hard life in the 13 years. Her father was killed, her mother is very sick with Cancer and her child is mixing with many bad characters around town and getting suspended from school. And thats when Ig makes his demands.

This story is primarily about Ig and Alex and them forming their father/son relationship but as Ig gets to know his son he also opens his heart to Tin and starts to want a second chance with her. But Tin has had all the men leave her or treat her badly so she really does  not trust Ig. He not only has to make up for the past but also get her to let her guard down and let him into her heart.

This was a wonderful story about second chances, growing up, facing your mistakes and moving on. This story is deeply moving and I shed a few tears for Tinley as I read this story.  Its not light reading. The characters are dealing with some really big issues and its a much darker and more serious book than I was expecting.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
