My Perfect Remix by Swati M.H.

ABUT THE BOOK

He was my best friend.
The fiercely protective boy who always caught me when I fell.
Until I moved away.

Now, ten years later, Logan Miller is a gorgeous, Grammy-winning DJ and a dedicated single dad—and hotter than any hit on the Billboards!
When our paths cross again, fantasies of him turn into reality.

I moved back to Austin to build a life outside the safety net of my wonderful, albeit overbearing, Indian family. Preferring the company of my old dog, my online games, and reruns of Marvel movies, I’m nowhere close to the type of woman who can handle a public life. The type of woman who’d be best suited for Logan Miller.

But when neither of us can control the gravitational pull of the other, we give in.
In limos, on mountains, on rooftops, in airplanes…
We create the perfect remix of a song written just for us.

But just when the beat of our hearts seem perfectly matched, perfectly in sync, his past threatens to shake the foundation he’s built so carefully. The only thing we can do is rely on the one thing that’s bonded us together—our love.

But will that be enough?

EXCERPT

Logan’s eyes flash with the anger I saw earlier, and he does a quick survey of my entire body before meeting my gaze again. I wonder if he likes what he sees, but then I quickly remember that he’s been with women a hundred times hotter than me. “Is there a reason you didn’t come to Club Vex?”

I swallow, leaning back against the door, begging my knees not to wobble. “We were . . .. I was having fun here.”

Logan takes a step closer, eliminating the space between us and any chance of me escaping. “Yeah, I got that based on the slime that had his hands on you not five minutes ago.” His breath fans my face and my body reacts, arching toward him. What the heck, stupid body?

“Why does that bother you, Lo?” I summon any boldness I can find inside of me to meet him head-on. “Friends let friends flirt with strangers at bars.”

His hands stretch out and capture my hips, his fingers pressing firmly at my sides, creating a warm current inside my core. His heavy bulge rests unabashedly on my belly. “Well, I guess we’re not friends then, Batgirl.”

My breath snags on an exhale. The way his hands are holding me steady right now, they’re both my life raft and the anvil pulling me under. “Then what are we, Logan?”

He doesn’t respond. Instead, his stormy eyes bore into mine, mixing with equal parts of the same emotions I have swirling inside me--hesitation, vulnerability, and lust. He licks his lips and watches as I follow the movement. “Are you?”

My eyebrows crease. “Am I what?”

“Falling?”

Before I can even come to terms with what I’m doing, my hands lift, as if possessed by someone else. I push back the hood from his head before digging my fingers into his soft brown hair. With my head tipped up, I hold his gaze. I’m tired of fighting it, tired of denying it. “Yes.”

And just like that, his mouth is on mine, seizing the last of my breath. His hands slide down my hips and over my ass before resting on my bare thighs. A pool of heat gathers between my legs and I moan, bending into him. My nipples pebble against my bra as my body asks for more. His tongue finds mine, and I relish the sweetness I’ve been craving ever since I first tasted it. He squeezes the backs of my thighs and I feel his chest pound against mine.

The sounds of our lips and moans fill the room, spurring my arousal. I feel needy and heavy, and I’m shamelessly writhing under his touch. He pulls back slightly, capturing my bottom lip between his teeth, pulling and biting before deepening our kiss again.

Cupping his cheeks between my hands, I open my eyes, watching as his lips work over mine. It’s as if I need to see him devour me to believe it’s actually happening. As if he can feel my gaze on him, he opens his, too. And now we’re kissing--like freaks--with our eyes open.

It’s always been this way, hasn’t it, I wonder. Our eyes have always said everything our words never could.

His hand travels up, under my dress, lighting a fire over my skin. His eyes search mine for permission, and at the arch of my hips and the thumb I tenderly swipe over his cheek, he seems to have the approval he’s looking for. His lips unlock from mine before he finds my neck, licking, sucking, biting. “Baby . . .” he rasps.

It's sensation overload as his scruff slides over my neck and his hand finds the hem of my panties. Pushing aside the thin fabric, his fingers trace up and down my slick opening, and I gasp into his touch.

“This,” he whispers, traveling over my wet seam again and again. “This is for me.” His other hand comes to my face, curving over the back of my neck, as his thumb brushes my lips. I pull his thumb into my mouth, sucking gently, and he hisses. His light blue eyes become pools of obsidian as he watches his thumb disappear into my mouth. When I let his thumb go, he slides it over my lips again. “These lips, this body, you . . .” he inhales as if surprised by his own admission, “all mine.”

AUTHOR BIO

I prefer to call myself a storyteller rather than an author. I'm a mom to two beautiful little girls and a wife to an incredibly supportive husband. My days start with caffeine and sometimes end with a glass (or three) of wine.

I'm a Texas raised Indian American currently living in the Bay Area. With a degree in Computer Science and an MBA, I've had a successful career building software products but writing is both my hobby and my passion.

For me, writing and reading are an escape from real life. I love meeting and creating characters who I'd love to take out for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. My goal as a storyteller is to distract my readers from their daily grind with stories about everyday couples finding and fighting for incredible love with the help of a little luck.

I am a big fan of the authors previous books so I really couldn't wait to read this book. I mostly enjoyed it. Its a reunited best friends type of story with a rock star and his childhood friend. He also is a single dad. This story also includes two exes that stir up trouble in this story.

Anisa and Logan are both around 22 and both are living in the same city, Austin, Texas. They have not seen each other in over ten years but at one time they were bestfriends. For Anisa's birthday her sister has found Logan who is now a famous DJ and music performer. And thats how they see each other for the first time in ten years.

But Logan has a very complicated life. He travels a lot and he also is a single dad. When in town his daughter is #1 and he is not sure how he can split up his time between Anisa and his daughter.

I really enjoyed his daughter and I love how Anisa is with her. Logan was an awesome dad and I loved how into Anisa he was for a majority of the book. And then trouble comes and the way he handles it was beyond awful. I actually started to hate him.

Luckily he is a jerk for a small amount of time but I would have never forgiven him. But luckily Anisa is not me and she was a very forgiving character in relation to him and also her ex, as you will find in the story.

My dislike of some elements of this story were personal pet peeves. I will say it was very well written and I enjoyed a majority of the book. It was a cute Romance between reunited friends and a fun rockstar and single dad story.

JOCK REIGN by Sara Ney - JUST RELEASED

ABOUT THE BOOK

IT’S NOT EASY LIVING IN YOUR BROTHERS SHADOW.

Jack Dryden-Jones is easily the worst rugby player on the field—when he moves to The States to follow in his brothers footsteps, he has no idea how he’d hate the game. He’s so horrible he considers faking an injury to take himself out of the game.

Jack is a quick-witted, comic book loving gentleman—not an athlete.

DO NOT DATE YOUR ROOMMATES CRUSH.

When her roommate brings home a random stranger, Eliza is shocked when he makes himself at home; he’s strapping, strong and watching a movie at the end of her couch as if he belongs there.

It makes her uncomfortable in the best way possible.

But if there is one thing she believes in, it’s GIRL CODE: No girl may date her friend's ex, past crush, or guys who have humiliated/used her. And she most certainly may not date any guy her friend currently fancies...

DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Jack and Eliza are two of the good ones—it’s going to take a miracle to keep them apart.

This was a really different college romance in the sports genre than I have read before. It came at this romance from a different angle and I really enjoyed it. Its very much a SLOW burn story and when they finally kiss I fell hard for them as a couple.

In this story we meet Jack who is British and he is the younger brother to his older brother, Ashley, who we met in Jock Royal. He is now attending college in the USA and living at his brothers place and he has taken his place on the Rugby team. But Jack is HORRIBLE at Rugby and feels like he is a misfit among his brothers friends and teammates.

one night at a party he meet a blonde named Kaylee. Who he walks home after. When he gets to her place he seems her roomie Eliza who is watching a movie and he ends up joining her. And so starts his fascination with Eliza. But he has a huge problem named Kaylee. Because of Kaylee's crush on him when he and Eliza form a friendship, it becomes very much a girls code kinda forbidden romance.

It was really different and I very much enjoyed the writing and the story and I really loved Eliza and Jack individually as well as a couple. This was a really fun story and I enjoyed it and laughed several times at how awful Jack is at Rugby.

Mr. Park Lane by Louise Bay

ABOUT THE BOOK

I haven’t seen him in over a decade, but Joshua Luca can still get to me. And I hate it.

At twenty-nine, I’m a doctor and I’ve travelled the world, but just the thought of him has me sliding my sweaty palms down my jeans and wishing I could steady my racing heartbeat.

Joshua was an almost obsession until, at seventeen, he cost me my future. In one night, I grew up and let go of my silly crush.

My infatuation for Joshua is dead and buried. Forever.

It doesn’t matter that he’s my new flat mate.

Or that he still has that same sexy smile.

I barely notice how that, despite his billions, he’s the kindest man I know.

Or that when he touches me, a thousand tiny fireworks explode all over my body.

I’m completely over Joshua Luca.

This was an awesome story about friendship turning to love. It easily stands alone as Joshua's friends are really more supporting characters in this story and not really a pig part of this story.  I adored every single page, the author did an amazing job on this story. It had a fantastic plot and wonderful characters who had depth. It was a really fun, sweet, hot and romantic story. I think its the best book this author has ever written and I am so impressed with this book.

This is the story of Joshua who lives on Park Lane, and is nicknamed Mr Park Lane by the heroine. It takes place in London and Hartford is flying in to London to start a new job as a Pedetrician in a hospital, but she also has broken her ankle. Joshua is a family friend and he has rented an apartment next door for her to stay in, while he keeps his eyes on her for their moms who are best friends.

Hartford grew up with Joshua during the summers and he was three years older and she had a major crush on him. But she was a teen with braces, zits and not a lot of style so he flirted with her sister Thia and never really saw her.

As Joshua spends time with Hartford he gets to know her and they really become very close to each other. Joshua had his heart broken young and so all he does is have casual relationships. I loved watching these two become friends and fall for each other. I also loved watching Joshua have to work hard to get Hartford to see him as something more.

There is also a side plot about a  medication that puts Joshua and Hartford on opposite sides and I adored this side plot. It really made the book and was a great conflict between these two.

Fated Hearts by Kelly Elliott

Fated Hearts by Kelly Elliott is now live!

ABOUT THE BOOK

It was only meant to be a short trip—up to Chicago for two days and then back to Texas. At least, that was the plan until a massive snowstorm leaves me trapped in Chicago at a local hotel with no definite time frame of when I can go back home. If that wasn't a crazy-enough turn of events—I wake up to a beautiful princess standing in my hotel room.

She was definitely a sight to behold, but she's not the least bit thrilled to see me—think Momma Bear finding Goldilocks lying in her bed type of annoyance.

You see, my princess turned out to be a tired and angry traveler who had been double-booked...in my hotel room. With no rooms left anywhere in the city, we are forced to bunk together to ride out the storm. Now all that's left to determine is will we survive each other.

After a rocky start and some much-needed rest, Analise and I soon forge a friendship that turns into a no-strings-attached fling.

When the fairytale we got lost in melts away, we have an even bigger storm to weather that we never saw coming. The one where I'm faced with the uncertainty of having to walk away from the one woman who has opened a part of my heart I had thought was as frozen over as the city we found each other in.

Fated Hearts is a stand-alone novel and the last book in the Southern Bride series.

Before I start this review I want to share that I have not read every single book in this series. I came upon this series in the later books so the earlier ones I have not read. When I started this book, I felt that I was missing some information on the male lead in this book, Roger Carter who is Truitt Carter's brother. So I went back and read Lucky In Love (book 4).

In the previous book Roger is a huge flirt and he has a fling with nurse Lucy, but beyond that he just comes off as a big playboy. In this story we learn more about him, his fears, his hotness and his past and why he is the way he was. This book seems to take place I would say about 2-3 years after Lucky in Love.

This book we meet Roger Carter who is gorgeous and he gets stuck in Chicago for two nights with a big snowstorm. He meets a beautiful blond traveler named Analise when his room is the last one available and that's how he acquires a roommate. The way they meet was the hottest first cute meet scene I have read in a long time.

And thats all I can say without spoiling the story. This was a very fun story with lots of hot scenes and a BIG twist of fate bringing two people together. It made me sigh, giggle and even bite my nails. It was an awesome story to end this series, which I absolutely adore. I wish we'd get more stories because I met some awesome characters.

Mama's Boy by Avery Flynn

Mama's Boy by Avery Flynn is now live!

ABOUT THE BOOK

He's exactly who you want to take home.

Top three lies about mama's boys:

1. That we don't know what we want. That one is straight up BS. I know exactly what I want—to win this bet with my cousins by any means necessary even if it means finding the worst possible date in all of Harbor City and agreeing to whatever she asks in exchange for her pretending to fall for me.

2. That we are soft, little wimps. Yeah, you don't get to be CEO of a multibillion dollar company by letting other people take advantage of you. So as soon as I realize my date Fiona Hartigan isn't exactly who she appears to be, there's nothing that will stop me from figuring out the truth—no matter how many dates it takes to unravel that mystery.

3. That we don't know how to kiss. Oh yes we do. The only problem is that once I start kissing Fiona, I don't want to stop and I have to because we've already agreed that all of this is temporary.

Now I'm the guy that every woman wants to bring home to mom—except for the woman I'm fake dating and falling in love with for real.

This book was kinda different than I expected from the blurb about the book. This story is about a bet with Dixon and his two cousins. Dixon is very wealthy and runs a makeup company and is known as close to his mother, He is also a widow and is very anti love since his wife broke his heart when she was alive.

His grandmother has died and left a package for one of the cousins but there is no name so they devise a bet and the winner gets grandmothers package. The bet is that they will post a dating ad on an app. They will then plan 6 dates with the person that first contacts them and if they are single by the end of the six dates they win.
Fiona Hartigan sees the ad and is very excited because she recognizes Dixon as the guy who her grandmother needs to talk with so he can get into business with nana and sell her line of makeup.

And so when Fiona contacts Dixon its on for six dates. Does he fall for her? Can you mix business and pleasure? You will have to read the story to find out.

I also should mention this is a start of a new series and each cousin gets their own book. The author has written about the Hartigan family in other books, and I have read a few. That said this story does easily stand alone, It is a fun romp with characters I really like. And the ending was super romantic, I literally swooned for Dixon. He makes some mistakes in this book but the ending absolutely won me over, it was the coolest ending I have read in a long time.

With Love from Taluspare - Voyages of the Heart - by Thia Finn

Brett Calhoun has one lifelong dream, play college football and return to his small Texas hometown to coach the sport. Arriving back in Talusparse to begin his career, he discovers he left far more behind than he knew. Shelby Mason said goodbye to the love of her life so they could both pursue their dreams. Before she can start the first day of college, she realizes, Brett gave her more than she bargained for. Elijah enters the world during his mom’s freshman year of college, but she’s a determined young woman and lets nothing get in her way. Elijah lives a great life in a safe little town where everyone knows their neighbors and friendly is the norm. Six years later, when Brett joins the coaching staff at the same small school district where Shelby teaches and Elijah attends, the three find themselves face to face with a situation almost impossible for the adults to deal with and the child to understand. Will Shelby’s lies and Brett’s absence for their son’s six years of life be too much for Elijah to accept or can the three make the best of a strained situation?

This is the seventh book in the Voyages of the Heart Series. Each standalone offers a new destination for hearts to fall in love. Join us in this SPECIAL EDITION where Thia Finn shows us that romance can exist anywhere, especially near her hometown.

Brett:

Just because she won’t think about me doesn’t mean I can’t think about her. Shit, how long has it been since I went on a date or had sex? Too fucking long. Not that we’re going to have sex. Look where that got us last time we did.

Closing my eyes, I think about being in that truck bed and her sitting there taking off her clothes for me. She worried everyone from the bond fire could see her, but I knew they’d all be too busy drinking and flirting to watch us.

She curled her index finger at me as she lounged back on her elbow, one leg bent, looking more sexy than any female in a Playboy magazine, when they still printed them. She’d taken down her hair and had it all over one shoulder using it to cover one of her perfect small pert breast.

Growing up in small town Texas, Thia Finn discovered life outside of it by attending The University of Texas, only to return home and marry her high school sweetheart. They raised two successful and beautiful daughters while she taught middle school Language Arts and eventually became a middle school librarian. After thirty-four years, she retired to do her favorite things, like travel, spend time off-roading with family and friends, hanging out at one of the Texas Hill Country's beautiful rivers, reading, and writing.

She currently lives in the same small town where she grew up, with her husband and Chihuahua, Josie. She can often be found stalking on social media, watching Netflix or Hulu.

HOSTED BY:

This is the story of three people. Shelby, Brett and Elijah. In this story Shelby has some HUGE secrets and when Brett moves to town they all start to dissolve and she will have to face her mistakes and lies as they relate to her adorable 6 year old, Elijah.

One one hand what Shelby did was pretty awful but I also saw her side and honestly I would feel the same way. I thought she explained herself really well to Brett when her mistakes and lies are exposed and I loved that while Brett was angry he also still heard her.

This is a shorter book. somewhere between Novella and Novel side. Its a new author I have never read before and I really enjoyed her writing, the characters and the story. Shelby makes some decisions when she is super young and I cannot imagine the decisions she faced at such a young age.

This was a wonderful second chance at love with a big twist and I loved every second of it.
