ABOUT THE BOOK
Vik Bedi was not supposed to be the one.
Arrogant, smooth-talking surgeons—who also happen to be Geminis—are bad news.
Our chemistry might be off the charts, but I’ve been burned by guys like him before.
You’d think I’d have learned my lesson . . .
But in a moment of weakness, I foolishly allowed a one-time fling to get him out of my system.
Now I’m addicted—to his devilish smile, his heated gaze, and the way he steals my breath just by walking into the room. As a NICU nurse, I know how to be strong in the face of fear and chaos, but he knows when I just need to be held.
He’s slowly inching his way into the one part of me that he can never have—my heart.
They say the brightest stars burn the fastest, but I’m afraid he’ll leave me in embers.

EXCERPT
“So, I hear you’re a NICU nurse at a hospital in San Diego,” Vik says, his fingertips setting my skin alight.
“Ah, so you don’t have selective hearing.” I’m sure he can see my lips twitch, begging to smile.
“Not when it comes to you, sweetheart.” His eyes heat up without warning and my traitorous body reacts conversely to the signals from my brain--waking up, warming up, tightening up.
His breath ghosts over my skin as he whispers, “When it comes to you, I hear everything--every exhaled breath and every pounding heartbeat. Like right now, I can hear the way your mind is working overtime to figure out how to get out of my arms and back to the safety of your friends. I can hear you trying, and failing, to convince yourself that there’s no chemistry here.”
Thankfully, the song ends--along with his words--and I’m able to resume breathing and normal brain function. I step away from him and his enticing smell. “I think you need to recheck your diagnosis, doctor. I haven’t failed to convince myself of any so-called chemistry. I know there is no chemistry here. In fact, in the next few seconds, you’ll be watching me successfully walk away from you to enjoy the rest of my night.”
Zing!
And with that, I’m off to find my friends amongst the crowd filling up the dance floor, not waiting for Vik’s response. I can’t move quick enough from his unsettling gaze, his statuesque frame, and his heady smell. One moment longer and I would have reached up and ran my hand through his thick black hair or grazed my thumb along the scruff on his jaw.
One moment longer and I might have licked him to stake my claim.
I give total credit to the drama classes I took during high school for my flawless performance tonight. If he could hear what was actually going through my head, we wouldn’t be anywhere near the dance floor . . . we’d be finding our rhythm on a bed somewhere.
This is my last night in New Delhi, celebrating my best friend’s big day. There is no way a devil adorning angel wings is going to take that from me, no matter how persuasive his velveteen voice might be. Tomorrow I’ll fly back home to San Diego while he goes back to New York.
Where he belongs.
Far, far away.

AUTHOR BIO
I prefer to call myself a storyteller rather than an author. I'm a mom to two beautiful little girls and a wife to an incredibly supportive husband. My days start with caffeine and sometimes end with a glass (or three) of wine.
I'm a Texas raised Indian American currently living in the Bay Area. With a degree in Computer Science and an MBA, I've had a successful career building software products but writing is both my hobby and my passion.
For me, writing and reading are an escape from real life. I love meeting and creating characters who I'd love to take out for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. My goal as a storyteller is to distract my readers from their daily grind with stories about everyday couples finding and fighting for incredible love with the help of a little luck.
This is a brand new author for me but it is #2 in the series and it easily stands alone. It is so well written and so absolutely wonderful that after I finished this book I went back and read the first book as well and I absolutely loved it. I am really impressed with this brand new author.
In this book we meet Vik and Cassie two years before the start of this book at his cousin and her best friends wedding in India. This is a romance between an Indian man and a white woman but the Indian family is not super obsessed with only dating Indian families, where in the first book that was something the book centered on.
The book then picked up in the present when nurse Cassie's best friend Avni lets her know that her cousin Vik is now working at her San Diego hospital for the next several months. Vik is a huge playboy and so Cassie has avoided him in the past and even when they run into each other again.
These two were so much fun. Vik chases Cassie and well she makes him run after her but she tries to keep her heart safe. I loved seeing the very different families these two come from and what inspires them to follow their dreams and hearts.
This was a super romantic story and I adored both Vik and Cassie and I really loved Avni and Clark as well. So much that I went back and read the first book as well. Between the two books this is my absolute favorite because both Vik and Cassie don't mess around with anyone else and they have a very honest relationship with each other and communicate their wants and dreams so well.
