This is really book 3 in a series about three friends who live and work in London. Book 1, is the The Deal and is Victoria's wedding and her brother, Ethan brings a fake date, Avery to the wedding, and his story is in that book.
Book 2 is about Ethan's friend, Luke and his co-worker, Olivia who all work together and since it didn't have much to do with this book I have not read it yet. It is called The Truce.
This book tells us Victoria's story from the actual wedding thru to her finding love with Rugby star Jake.
Ethan and Luke are really great friends with Jake and when Jake has image issues because he is a BIT crazy and has problems with his image and his temper. Ethan thinks it might help his sister out to fake date Jake because her mother is trying to help her find husband #2.
And so they start dating. Jake is a very angry man and he really has temper issues. He is also very rough around the edges. So its very much an opposite types kind of attraction.
What Victoria gives to Jake is a calmness and she starts to help him learn to control his temper. This is them falling for each other but also Jake has a real issue that he needs help with. One that many people struggle with as well.
I really enjoyed it and I found it fascinating how what happened to Victoria on her wedding night was kinda brushed off in the first book. And that after what happens she stays with her husband at least for a few months. I definitely wouldn't have done that. Its probably one reason that she sticks with Jake even though at times he was very abrasive with her.
This story can stand alone but I felt that as I was reading this book I didn't understand Jake's connection to Ethan and Luke until I read the first book. I am glad I did because I really fell hard for Victoria in the first book. That said you can definitely read this book without reading the first book.
