This is book 4 of a 5-book series. I have read all 3 previous books and adored them so much. Each book easily stands alone but they happen in the same world and feature a different couple in each book.
When I heard this book was coming out, I could not wait. I would characterize this book as a second chance romance with a single mom.
The series is about 5 best friends who met in college became best friends, got into business together, are all super rich and powerful and they also row together on an amateur team supported by their company.
This is Owen and Lisa 's story and the story is told in several parts. It begins when Lisa finds out she is pregnant and then it takes us through her relationship with Owen, a close friend of her boss and a customer at the bar she runs for that friend, Danny. This is a story that takes us thru the 8 years Lisa and Owen have known each other and there are MANY twists and turns along the way.
There were times in this story I HATED Owen A LOT. He was mean, cruel and he hurt Lisa. In this book while from the outside he looks mature, he really isn't and it takes him 8 years to really grow up and figure out what, and who he wants and to see love and connections are what life is truly about.
We love who we love and this was a very realistic love story though at times I just wanted Owen to realise how precious life and family was. I felt at times he took it for granted a lot. Lisa, wow she is strong, a fighter but also someone who loves big and Owen was so lucky to find her.
This was not just a second chance at love story but more like a 9th chance at love story. But its also a story about love, friendship, forgiveness and growing up.
