“Thirty minutes. That’s how long we have until registration closes. If you’d had another way, you’d have already entered.”
Her shoulders sank. “We’re going to have to be disgustingly loved up on each other in public.”
It wouldn’t be a chore. It would be less than a chore, which was part of how this whole problem started in the first place. But I hoped being around her might immunize me to the feelings she stirred in me when she touched me. “I’m willing to make the sacrifice if you are.”
A flare burned in her gaze. “You are a dick.”
“What? You’re so excited to make out with me in public?”
“There was a time I wouldn’t have minded, but that’s now buried under a glacier. It’s practically a prehistoric feeling.” She adjusted the strap on the bag slung over her shoulder. “But if you’re serious, I’m game.”
The crowd cheered in my head and I stopped myself from doing an end-zone dance. “Do you want to give this a trial run?” The words stalled and my heart raced. A pounding gallop thudded in my chest. I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans.
She paused, then nodded like she’d been told her frostbitten arm would be amputated. “Fine, let’s do this.” Her feet were toe to toe with mine.
The first time we’d been this close since August. The first chance to touch her since then. I swallowed past the ball of sawdust lodged in my throat and reached for her cheek.
She jerked back, slapping my hand. “What, are we supposed to press our lips together and that’s it? If it’s going to be a real kiss, then it needs to be a real kiss.”
Her gaze hardened. “Fine.” She closed her eyes, shook out her body, and took a deep breath.
Annoyance pinched at the tingle of anticipation rushing down my spine. “We’re not entering into the uneven bars gymnastics final. It’s a kiss.”
“I just need to mentally prepare.” She glared at me. “So I don’t puke all over you.”
“It’s not like we haven’t kissed before.” Her soft lips. Her tongue. Her taste. My brain still sizzled with the brand.
“Don’t remind me.”
Irritation scratched at the base of my skull although my body hummed being this close to her. “Five weeks is all it will take.”

Maya Hughes, that's me!, can often be found sneaking in another chapter while hiding in the bathroom from her kids! :-) I'm a romance writer who loves taking inspiration from everyday life, namely my husband and biggest fan. Inspiration also strikes when I hear a song, meet someone new or daydream while at soccer practice.
I love writing stories that capture the possibilities of the paths less travelled and enjoy experiencing life through my characters’ eyes.

Kennedy is a beautiful college student who is in college on scholarship and who has a group of girlfriends she loves. She has a hard time connecting with guys and pretty much has very casual romps with them. She has a sister she adores and will do anything for and who she dreams about winning the contest for so they can enjoy fashion week in Paris.
Cole is a football player in college with a jerk of a coach and a mother who died of Cancer and a dad he does not connect with at all. But his mother wants him to give his dad a chance and the college contest prize of a golfing weekend sounds like the perfect way for father/son bonding.
And so, the games begin...
This is an awesome story that I really enjoyed. I made me laugh, cry and even cheer as Cole and Kennedy try and con the whole campus into believing they are in love.
There is also this huge secret that Cole has been keeping and its HUGE but I am not spoiling it. It really changed the way I looked at this entire story when it came out.
ABOUT THE KISS LIST
I had not read the first book in the series when I read this one and was never lost. I did read the first book in the series Kiss and Tell after I finished this book because I grew to love the characters so much. While I enjoyed the story, at times I got way too much football info but otherwise I enjoyed it as a great intro to this series.
