The Nurse and The Hot Cop

Archer Gray

Being the new officer on the Laurel Springs Police Department has been a blessing. They've treated me like family since the moment I started my first shift. It's what I've wanted since I left home at eighteen. Life is going amazing, especially when I meet Alisa, a nurse at Laurel Springs Medical. She's saucy, but I suspect it hides a vulnerability not many get to see.

I want to see it, want to know everything about her. In a moment where she desperately needs someone, I'm there for her.

And I won't leave until she asks me to.

Alisa Hilligan

I've always been a transplant, searching for a home. I thought I found it in Calvert City, instead it's the neighboring town Laurel Springs.

Since I've been here I've met the new hot cop, Archer. He makes me want everything I shouldn't.

But when the reason I left Calvert City comes back with a vengeance; I'll need him more than I ever thought.

And he'll prove he's here for the long haul - something no one else ever has.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is part of the series, but it really read more as a standalone as both main characters are pretty new to town. It also seems shorter than other books in the series and more novella length.

In this story we meet new officer Archer as he gets injured on the job. When he is sent to the hospital her is taken care of by nurse Alisa, who he has asked out a few times and who turned him down. But after taking care of him, she decides to give him a shot at getting to know her.

Both characters come from families who are a bit dysfunctional, and they both are really into casual sex. But Alisa has also had some issues with police officers in the past and that's her hesitancy with Archer. Can Archer charm her and get her to fall for him? What happens when trouble comes to town? You will have to read this story to find out.

This was a fast read and I enjoyed it. I loved seeing previous characters from the series come back and add to this story and help Archer and Alisa.

I felt that these two fell hard for each other pretty fast after all their comments about not wanting love or marriage. I would have preferred less drama but more dating scenes with the main characters, but I did really enjoy getting to know Archer and Alisa and loved their interactions with each other and the town of Laurel Springs.
