MATCHMAKING THE CEO by Layla Hagen (Natalie and Jake)

ABOUT THE BOOK

What’s a girl to do when her life implodes but start all over again?

I won’t let anyone get in the way. Not
a grumpy CEO, or his matchmaking grandmother.

Unemployed and heartbroken, I begin my own event-planning
business. My first client wants me to plan her ninetieth birthday party at her
grandson’s estate in Martha’s Vineyard.

As I prepare to throw her the celebration of a lifetime,
I run into a huge problem. Jake Whitley is insufferable.

He insists we travel on his private plane and immediately
pushes all my buttons—and I push his right back. The problem? He looks so hot in
his custom-made suit that I want to wipe that smirk off his face with a kiss.

It’s when illness strikes his grandfather and Jake
decides to move from New York to Boston to run the family business that I see a
chink in his armor.

Instead of pushing each other’s buttons, we’re sharing
lots of gelato.

Instead of fighting, we’re kissing.

Then my ex starts trouble, and I see yet another side of
Jake that’s protective and caring.

Two things I’m sure of: Jake Whitley is an amazing
kisser… and he can’t be mine.

But
Jake has other ideas. And so does his grandmother.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a stand alone story or a new series by this author. It's not connected to any of the authors other book series but I would love if she wrote more about Jake's brothers that we met in this story.

Jake is the oldest brother in a family ripped apart by their father's secret other life and family. Jake moved away soon after the lies his dad told were exposed. But he is still connected to his grandparents and brothers and so also visits.

In this story we meet Natalie who has just been hired to plan Jake's grandmothers' celebration. She gets Natalie to agree to an out-of-town location, at Jake's relaxation home. And that's how they start to get to know each other.

There is a side plot of an ex who won't leave Natalie alone. Sorta stalkery and he scares Natalie a little. This gives Jake a chance to get all protective and I enjoyed watching Jake TRY and take care of Natalie. This part of the storyline I did not really get because it gets fixed a bit too easily in my opinion.

What this story does center on is acceptance, forgiveness, love and family. I really enjoyed reading it and felt it was low on drama but high on character chemistry.
