Award winning author, LJ Evans, lives in the California Central Valley with her husband, daughter, and the terrors called cats. She's been writing, almost as a compulsion, since she was a little girl and will often pull the car over to write when a song lyric strikes her. A former first-grade teacher, she now spends her free time reading and writing, as well as binge-watching original shows like The Crown, A Discovery of Witches, Veronica Mars, and Stranger Things.
If you ask her the one thing she won't do, it's pretty much anything that involves dirt--sports, gardening, or otherwise. This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed this book though it was a totally different kind of romance than I was used to.
Its also VERY long so make sure you clear your schedule as it is engrossing and you will not want to put it down. Its also a very unique and original story. In my many years of reading romance I have not read anything else like it before.
It is called a modern fairytale but I did not really feel like it was a fairytale. But it does have some paranormal connections and its did feel like a modern Rapunzel story. Its also a story based on Taylor Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale" song.
This is a really hard book to summarize. It also has elements of bullying and also elements of paranormal but its also a contemporary romance. It also has a slow burn romance with a really good guy, Hudson. Elle meets him when they run into each other on the day that her life changes and her fairytale begins or is it?
This is not just a love story but has some villains. But I loved that from the second Elle meets Hudson no matter what he has her back. I hated what happened to his sister but I loved how it impacted this story and his relationship with Elle.
This story is not just about romantic love. Its about sisterly love, parental love, running away from love, what makes a family, and friendship. It was such a wonderfully written story and such a surprise that I recommend it if you are looking for something a bit different than boy meets girl.
